How to Overcome Sleepiness at Work apart from Drinking Coffee

Long term perspective

Daytime sleepiness is the result of a lack of sleep at night. Everyone has their own sleep rate. That’s why you need to independently determine when to go to bed so that it is easy to wake up in the morning and be productive during the day. For this reason, proper nutrition will also help you sleep better. Do not overeat at night and do not eat heavy meals at dinner. So, your body will be able to rest better, and you will soon fall asleep and wake up without problems and with a healthy face.

Tips on what to do when you have sleep problems

Walk

A change of location and fresh air will help get you back in shape. Walk to a nearby cafe and grab a drink, go out for lunch outside the office, or just walk around the block. If your job allows it, hold a meeting with a client or partners outside the office. Such walks will help you take your mind off burning deadlines or familiar tasks. Try to also ventilate your office more often so that fresh air helps to be cheerful and for this you don’t have to go outside.

Movement

If there is no way to leave the office, the engine will come in handy. A little gymnastics, a series of bends or squats will help break the body and feel a surge of energy. From time to time you can move without getting up from the desktop. For example, you can stretch your fingers, do gymnastics for the eyes and neck, turn the body in different directions and move your legs. Physical exercise, even the simplest, helps to improve blood circulation in the body. This is because blood delivers oxygen to the brain and all organs faster. As a result, a ten-minute engine makes you feel awake again.

Breathing exercises

Helps to cope with drowsiness and breathing exercises. Stand up straight, take in more air and hold your breath. Then exhale forcefully through your mouth. This exercise allows the blood to absorb oxygen and fill all the organs with it. You can also try alternate breathing to quickly set up for productive work. To do this, close the right nostril with the thumb of the right hand and inhale through the left nostril. Then, with the ring finger of the right hand, close the left nostril, and open the right nostril. Exhale through the free right nostril.

Drinks and food

Coffee is considered a classic drink to cheer up. However, you should not abuse it as well as green tea, which contains more caffeine than a cup of espresso. These drinks dehydrate the body and lead to a loss of concentration. If you feel trembling in your hands and general concern, then you should definitely quit caffeine.

When drowsiness sets in at work, it’s best to drink more water. The body needs it, especially during periods of fatigue and lack of sleep. The citrus scent will help you feel upbeat, so drink a glass of orange juice to get you in the right mood.

Some people think that after eating they will want to sleep even more. Nevertheless, the key lies in choosing appropriate dietary options. Chocolate helps to cheer up for a short time, and dried fruits and nuts will keep you in good shape during the working day. What’s more, you shouldn’t overeat on a lunch break so as not to fall asleep right at the workplace. On the other hand, a small portion of food can stir up the body.

Music and hand washing

Energetic music will help to be in good shape. So put on your headphones and enjoy your work tasks to your favorite tunes. It is also advised to try a contrast shower for hands as a way to cheer up. To do this, put the brushes under a strong stream of water for 2-3 minutes. Also, you can alternate between cold and hot water. This technique is able to cheer up, refresh and overcome drowsiness at work for a long time. The first week of work in the new year is endless, so keep our tips and still try to go to bed earlier to be productive all day.
