The Importance of Correct Citation in Blog Posts

The importance of the citation in an article is a major issue and would allow many articles to gain credibility. Indeed, credibility with the public is a very important point on which quotes can influence. Articles can then rely on known quotes or people who can quickly gain the audience's trust in the person cited.

In addition to this, the audience is invited to click on the quotes to better understand the context and be able to inform themselves. It is important to know that many authors have copyrights and it is essential to be able to respect your copyrights by quoting which will avoid certain conflicts.

The different ways to cite a website in a blog article

Write the name of the website directly

To include the name of the website, you can write it down in a basic format in the sentence. This format consists of: Author's Last Name, First Initial. (Year, Month Day of publication). Title of the webpage. Website Name. URL. This does not remain a standard first style and other styles can be used depending on the sector.

Put a link on the name of the cite

A hyperlink is an interactive element in an electronic document that allows users to navigate to another resource with a single click. It generally consists of text or an activatable image, called an anchor, associated with a URL address. Hyperlinks are essential for Internet navigation, making it easy to connect between different pages, websites or online resources.

If you want to create a hyperlink using the quote name in text, you can use HTML depending on the platform you are working with.

For HTML:

<a href="https://www.example.com">Author's Last Name, First Initial. (Year). Title of the Webpage. Website Name.</a>

You can replace the link ("https://www.example.com") with the actual URL of the webpage you're citing. This HTML code will create a clickable link using the specified citation.

Or create a reference paragraph by creating a list

To cite you can also create a section at the end of the blog by creating a list in case you do not precisely cite a site in a sentence. This will therefore allow everything to be grouped together in one pragraph.

Practical tips for an effective citation

The tip our team advises you is to use APA (American Psychological Association) which is generally considered one of the most commonly used citation styles, especially in the fields of social sciences, psychology, education and related sciences.

Some citation styles use abbreviations for journal names or other terms. Make sure you use them correctly according to the guidelines of your chosen style.

Dans la plupart des styles de citation, le titre de l'article est généralement mis entre guillemets, tandis que le titre du journal est souvent en italique.

Before finalizing your quote, make sure all information is accurate and consistent. An accurate citation strengthens the credibility of your work. If possible, consult multiple sources to confirm the information cited. If multiple independent sources confirm the same facts, this strengthens the reliability of your quotes.
