Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a basic technology that is developing computer systems to act and think like humans. AI processes human intelligence to create algorithms that serve in benefit of humans in different fields.
How was Artificial Intelligence born?
Since the first century BC, man has been fascinated by the possibility of creating machines capable of simulating the human brain. In the modern era, the term artificial intelligence was coined in 1955 by John McCarthy.
In 1956, McCarthy and other scientists organized the “Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence” conference. This event led to the creation of machine learning, deep learning, predictive analytics, and, ultimately, prescriptive analytics. It has also given rise to an entirely new field of study, namely data science.
5 Pros of Artificial Intelligence
1. AI completes routine tasks with ease.
Every one of us has a routine in our life in which we repeat certain actions for a certain period where sometimes they take a lot of our precious time and for that, AI has a solution. With AI, repetitive tasks can be automated, precisely fine-tuning the equipment to run for long periods to complete the job.
2. Artificial intelligence can work indefinitely.
Human workers are typically operational for 8-10 hours of production each day, while AI can continue to operate for an indefinite period. This extended period that we get from AI, “the tireless worker”, can be used to not experience drops in productivity for companies because of tired workers.
3. Artificial intelligence makes fewer errors.
Artificial intelligence finds an important role in workplaces where efficiency and accuracy are important and when there is no room for error. AI could break down complicated mathematical constructs into practical actions more quickly and with greater precision.
4. Artificial intelligence helps us explore
There are many places in our universe where it would be dangerous, if not impossible, to seek exploration. Artificial intelligence allows us to learn more about these places, aiding our database of species knowledge. We can explore the deepest parts of the ocean, travel to inhospitable planets, and even find new resources to consume thanks to this technology.
5. Artificial intelligence can be used by anyone
There are several ways the average person can reap the benefits of AI on a day-to-day basis. In smart homes powered by artificial intelligence, the thermostat and energy regulation help reduce the monthly bill. Augmented reality allows consumers to view items in their homes without purchasing them first. So, if correctly applied, AI allows our perception of reality to be improved, creating a positive personal experience.
Examples of Artificial Intelligence in everyday life
In recent years, companies that have incorporated AI into their business strategy have increased by 270% and there is no doubt that it will be the future key to economic success. The areas in which it is most widespread are:
1. Marketing & Communications
Artificial Intelligence is used to understand customers' consumption habits and improve services related to customer care and user experience. As a result, we have the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence Marketing (AIM) in the market. AIM's goal is to persuade people to buy products or use different services.
AI has improved tools for people with disabilities and increased the efficiency of technologies capable of diagnosing tumours or rare diseases. What’s more, systems capable of recommending optimal treatment paths and virtual assistants for operating rooms to support doctors are available on the market.
3. Public safety and risk management
Artificial intelligence is leveraged to prevent crimes at airports, train stations, metropolitan cities, and public events. In addition to this, the algorithms can predict theft, fraud, or cyber-attack.
Jobs will be carried out automatically with an increasingly high degree of precision and a low margin of error to significantly reduce production costs.
Al has found a large place in the film industry where it is used to create many productions. It is expected that AI does not have the human imagination, but it can be used to stimulate the birth of new ideas.
