Translators face extreme ways of mental fatigue during translation. They not just translating the words, but also culture. They have to be accurate and give the same meaning and feeling that the source audience has to the target audience. Especially in some fields of translation, they have to be too strict and cannot put their feelings in it.

Also, translators have to be quick in some cases. Costumer who brings a text to be translated might need the translation quickly. Still, translators have to balance and work according to the customer’s demands and choose between quality and time.
Understanding Mental Fatigue in Translation Work
During translation, if translators are slow, that can mean several things. Translators do not know the field of text and need more research; or they might be in mental fatigue and need to rest. Still, in reality, they do not have too much time to rest and have to give performance. Moreover, if they continue to work like that, they might face with several problems; like slower word recall, errors in translation, not being able to understand texts, focusing problems and so on.
Healthy Strategies to Maintain Mental Sharpness
Still, in the face of these kinds of problems, a translator can do several strategies. So, they can continue to give performance:
Task Chunking:
In a translation, knowing the whole text is quite important. So, translators can do like this; read the whole text several times, then focus on the text by dividing it to pieces while knowing the context. So, they will give their energy to small parts. Still, translators should use CAT tools and Translation Technologies for their work to be easier. These tools provide consistency, accuracy and a good quality of translation.
Cognitive Rest:
Translators need rest as all other people, but they might not have the time. So, they can take “micro – breaks” and can give time to themselves. A coffee break, a short rest, listening to music and similar more breaks can help their minds to rest.
Environmental Design:
If there are things that are distracting, you can go to a quiet place like a library or work in a quiet place. To concentrate deeply, you can get rid of distractions and maybe listen to music if you like it. It’s up to you how to work. If music helps you, you can use it, or use earphones just to cut of the sound.

Nutrition for Cognitive Performance
For cognitive performance, nutrition is a fundamental necessity. You can eat things like nuts, berries, or drink green tea and take omega 3. These nutritions will improve your cognitive performance and you will show greater performance in translation.
In addition, it is better to avoid eating too much sugar and you should not overload your caffeine taking. These can prevent you to give your performance fully. Still, drinking some amount of coffee can be beneficial.
The Role of Movement in Sustaining Focus
Doing physical exercises can benefit the cognitive performance and brain functions. Walking, stretching can increase the oxygen levels in the blood and brain. Also, these exercises can help the mood and thus you would feel more energetic and good. Likewise, doing simple desk exercises can prevent you to feel tired, can help you to focus more and give more performance.
Mental Health & Stress Management
For mental health and stress management, translators can do several things. Like, listening to music, breathing control, walking, staying organized, taking micro – breaks and more. Thus, they will feel better. Still, if these cannot help you, you can go to group counseling, mental support centers, workshops and more (2). Mental health is one of the most important things for translators as the problems of these can cause memory problems, word – recalling problems, concentration and more.
Translators who are struggling with mental health and stress management can go to counseling services, talk with friends and family, listen calming music, and can go to mental support centers. Moreover, you can check your blood as if there are physical reasons for your condition, and also talk with doctors. Problems in mental health can cause serious problems in work and performance of translators.

Translators can face various problems during their work. Still, there are ways for them to improve their performance. Various physical and mental works are beneficial for them and for their cognitive performance. Moreover, productivity is not just about time, but also protecting their mental energy. In the end, consistency in their physical and mental health means consistency in the translation quality.
