The labor market is constantly changing. In particular, new methods have been included in the processes for several years. After 3 years of health crisis, the needs are changing and companies must follow the trend in order to adapt to it. So, it is no longer a question of adaptation, but it is a long-term transformation. Regardless of size, industry or market, it is necessary. Some departments require automation and IT support to be more efficient! Indeed, companies that still work with "old methods" can no longer keep up because their processes are outdated. This progression shows that with the right technology and collaborative tools, it is possible to reorganize the work and perform many more tasks than with traditional methods. Therefore, the prospects of evolution open up opportunities thanks to these new strategies.
Techniques and strategies we can use
As a result, new technologies, big data, artificial intelligence or new norms and laws allow our employers to ensure their performance as well as their durability. Many strategies are being used to contribute to this, but which ones?
For example, in the "Manifesto for the Next Company", Sopra Steria Next focuses on three pillars: "attention, openness and agility". In fact, this allows us to focus on our customers as well as our employees. This approach, which focuses on all the partners involved in a company, leads us to believe that a redefined management style, equipped with new skills and a new way of working, will lead to success.
In addition, information systems and the increase in the number of sensors generating data have led to an explosion in the volume of data produced and stored. Moreover, according to Moore's law, the computing and data storage capacity doubles every 18 months. On the other hand, only 30% of the amount of data is actually used by companies. In the meantime, new information exchange technologies are being developed, such as machine learning or artificial intelligence. That is the reason why it would be better to continuously exploit this kind of data for the well being of companies.
Positive and negative consequences
Apart from that, digitalization of a company and its services is well appreciated for many reasons. First of all, storing and keeping data on digital media allows for simplified accessibility and less storage space. Moreover, relations between the companies and their customers strengthen thanks to social networks. For example, that enables the two parties to have a direct, active and living relationship. The image of the company is of value too. Finally, the increase in revenue is huge because digitalization offers an opportunity for low-cost marketing with a flat-rate promotion.
However, this change can also lead to some drawbacks. The most important one is job-cutting in many sectors. The era of digitalization no longer requires the function of humans in some aspects. Moreover, access to it can be restricted. So it is necessary to have certain skills which aren’t accessible to all because it requires a perfect mastery of the computer tool. Without forgetting the risks of hacking, some people can use confidential and personal data for malicious purposes and can cause huge issues.
Indeed, the era of digitalization of companies and services is necessary for their evolution. Thus, it is important to look ahead and adapt to the change that will eventually affect all of us. The company of tomorrow is synonymous with performance thanks to new methods and strategies that are already available for its progress. So, this evolution has many advantages as well as drawbacks, but it is possible to create new opportunities as well!
